The aim of Smart2ReDuCe is to investigate new technologies in machine vision and advanced photonics to achieve better separation of construction and demolition waste (CDW) at the plant and to be able to convert waste into new sustainable materials for construction, which will be assessed with recycled aggregates through materials research and 3D printing technology.
The results of this project will contribute to accelerate the transition towards climate neutrality, energy efficiency and sustainable use of resources. Through digitisation, the aim is to achieve the reduction of CDW waste and to optimise its reuse through better separation.
Smart2ReDuCe is a collaborative project involving the following entities: ITG, Medrar Innovation Office, CETIM, Inova, Himikode, Recinor, Grupo Gestán and the Cluster da Madeira e o Deseño de Galicia.
Viratec received funding from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism amounting to € 277,870 to implement this project, through the 2023 call of the support programme for Innovative Business Clusters (AEI), funded by the European Union-NextGenerationEU.
